Bern and little friend Daisy the miniature horse came recently to Lab hill at the request of the SPCA when a local facility under investigation closed. Bern has some hoof issues stemming apparently from little or no care and needs some adjustment time to gain social skills and weight but is doing beautifully in her new Herd. She is in a weight gain paddock withTraveller, Ginny, Ginger, and Monte-and rapidly developing friendships and confidence! Daisy is currently living with our front paddock crew-Rocky, Twizzler, Cleo, Mooncloud, and Dice, and, shy though she is, has settled into a happy connection with the other minis-something she missed at her previous facility. Both Bernadette and Daisy can be sponsored monthly on our Adoption page.
Labrador Hill Sanctuary is honored to have been invited to join Homes for Horses Coalition www.homesforhorses.org a global coalition of rescues and sanctuaries supported by the ASPCA, the Humane Society of the United States, and the Animal Welfare Institute. We are so proud to have been included in this group of fine organizations dedicated to our own ideals of preservation of life, humane education, and a new and better universe for animals in the 21st Century.
